Sarah’s Window is a photography project started in 2009. A selection of over thousen shots, mostly taken at dawn, from the windows of what would later become my and my family’s home. Sarah’s Window is indirectly also a grand love story. The images are of the Southern Agricultural Park of Milan. Despite the apparent static nature, the project is very dynamic: over the course of more than 15 years, the view shifts and transform both in colour and light, depending on the season and time of day. The images of the ‘view’ in turn reflects a path that starts from a more instinctive and moody photographic approach, up to a progressively more conscious composition. I never found the right time to publish this project organically, but this moment arrived during the lockdown, in a situation of forced home stay, when this view became even more important, something to cling to for its presence, for its significance. There are darker images and sunnier images, images that are linked to an anguish due to the changing situation, to a feeling of being at the mercy of events that do not leave much room for action. As always, however, the sun rises and the view is revealed in all its beauty.
